
As the Arçelik-LG Klima Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., our company has been established in 1999 with the equal partnership of Arçelik A.Ş. the leader of the durable consumer goods in Turkey and LG Electronics, the electronics giant of South Korea. We are continuing with our operations at the Gebze Organize Sanayi Bölgesi (Gebze Industrial Park) as the first air-conditioner production factory in Turkey and the largest in Europe and Middle East.
We started our production with 5000 air-conditioner units in 2000 and when we reached 2009, our production capacity increased to 2.5 million units/year and we produced our 5 millionth air–conditioner in the same year. We have sold approximately 40 % of more than 5 million air-conditioners we have produced since our establishment in the country and 60% in the foreign countries. In addition to our leading position we have attained in the Turkish market, we bear the justified pride of being the makers of 2 million air-conditioners used in more than 50 countries around the world.
Together with that energy and motivation, our target of “Being the First Choice in the Air-conditioning Field” is also expanding its scope and we are taking new actions that will support the same. We want to evaluate the sector we are in not only as “cooling”, but the “air-conditioning sector” with a larger scope. The “air-conditioning” concept includes heating and conditioning the air besides cooling as well. As Arçelik LG, we are aiming at being the first company that comes to mind in those fields.
Despite the increasing competition with the pressure of the Chinese and Far Eastern companies, we are maintaining our leadership in the domestic market. We are aiming at attaining a stronger position in the international markets with innovative and technological products. Our company is tracking the trends in the entire world, the future expectations and technological developments closely. And we are able to export our products to many points in the world with this approach. However, our expectations include both exporting to ore companies and to have larger market shares in those countries. Therefore, we are continuing our efforts for increasing our technological development ceaselessly. We are targeting to reach the position, where we can export not only air-conditioners to the foreign countries but the highest possible technology that can be offered with such equipment as well.
In parallel with our above targets regarding the domestic and international markets, our company has entered in to new lines of business as of 2009. The initial data obtained suggest that we shall be successful in those new areas of business as well. In particular, the important success we have attained in the commercial air-conditioner plants field, which we have entered at the end of 2008, is increasing our determination even further. In 2009, we have attained an 8 % market share in this market, which we have just entered. Our target is increasing our market share to 25 % in the year 2010 and consequently to carry this rapid ascend to the leadership with the 50 % market share we shall have in 2011. In parallel with the commercial air-conditioning plants, the name Arçelik-LG will be heard frequently in the coming periods with the air-conditioning and engineering systems, renewable energy and total solution concepts.
Our company is continuing with its activities in the social fields too in addition to the economical areas for the development of the country. Inline with our philosophy of “contributing to the sustainable development”, we have carried out activities under the scope of the “For My Country” and “Trade Schools- Country’s Affair” projects in 2009. In 2010 on the other hand, the Blood Donation Campaign, which was started with Kızılay (Red Crescent), is still continuing with the intense participation of our personnel. We derive our power from our values and from the principle of “our most valuable asset is our human resources” as so well expressed by our late founder Vehbi Koç and spending a great effort in order to satisfy our responsibilities in that direction with all our employees and business partners.
The competitive environment of today requires a perpetual dynamism in the industry and service sectors. Therefore, we are aware of the fact that the issues such as technology utilization, information management, innovation, research and development bear a great importance for our company next to continuing with our operations for efficiency and profitability. With the synergy we have derived from the Koç Community, as an innovative and dynamic company open to change and development, our target is continuing with our contribution to the Turkish economy with the awareness of the pioneering mission we have undertaken in the sector we operate in and to put our signature under many achievements that will make the difference in the global competition.
